In the 21st century, all people can talk is about love, relationships, marriages, and affairs. We talk about our girlfriends, our boyfriends, and the love of our life and express how crazy we are about them. Our parents would be after us and would be looking for our life partner. It’s hard to digest if we are single. If we are single, we would be cornered by our friends as they would be busy with their boyfriends and girlfriends. What people need to understand is it is completely okay to live alone.
“Living alone is people but hard to do.”
The truth of the fact is that some people, would cry out and get depressed as they are alone. And others would just simply enjoy it. For some it would be hell, others make it their own heaven. You might get terrified, you might get crazy and bored if you are a starter, but believe me, you are going to enjoy it the next day or the other.
You must embrace and appreciate your lone time. When you gift yourself some space, you explore parts of yourself that you couldn’t have reached anyway else. People might talk about you, laugh at you, and ask you to be in a relationship. Ignore what others say, you don’t need to force yourself into a relationship, you are perfect on your own.
10. Decorate your place
Because you are going to spend a lot of time at your place, start decorating your place. The more arranged and beautiful your apartment looks, the better you feel. The space you spend most of your day in has got a lot to do with your mood and behavior. The more clumsy and disoriented your place looks like, the more frustrated and depressing you are going to feel about your day. You are going to be amazed when you are going to take that one step at decorating your room and how wonderful you are going to feel about it. The fact that you are working for yourself is itself beautiful.
You don’t need to worry about anyone else, you live there alone, give it your taste. To lighten your mood, you can give your room a new paint, add some lights, some beautiful curtains, and bedsheets. Go for it. You deserve it.
9. Improve your locks
Because you are going to spend most of your day alone, you need to have that sense of security so that you don’t need to worry about losing your stuff. Might sound scary but living alone has this disadvantage, you might get robbed or hurt and you won’t have anyone by your side to help you. Instead of worrying about it every day and making this an issue, change your locks and improve the security to stay safe. Ensure that the lock is of good quality and you lock your place regularly especially at night.
Research the neighborhood if you are moving to a new place or ask your landlord if you can go for a changed lock if you are living in a rental place.
8. Plan your expenses
Always plan your expenses. Most of the time you would find yourself going out, watching a movie, or visiting a restaurant, and this is going to cost you high. Plan your trips, plan when you are going to spend your salary and when you are going to say no to the expenses. Just like it’s important that you gift yourself a café date, it’s equally important that you spend your day with some basic lunch or dinner. You alone are going to pay all the bills, your household bills are going to be all yours. So be smart about it. Make a monthly budget and maintain it. You might need to sacrifice that expensive saree or that beautiful suit sometimes, and that’s perfectly okay.
7. Build relationships
It is okay that you are alone, but that doesn’t mean that you have to isolate yourself from others. You need them too. Make some friends and get to know your neighbors especially, they are going to be there for you if you need them. Even if you don’t like making a lot of friends, you will surely find at least one or two guys you are comfortable with. Invite them to dinner sometimes. Ensure you stay by their side if they need someone. Even if you are self-reliant, remember that you need people. We humans do need others.
6. Do work out
If you are planning to live alone, you need to ensure that you are physically fit. Make a schedule and make sure that you work out daily. It can be some cardio, yoga, or Zumba. You don’t want to be sick every month if you are staying all by yourself, because you might not get anyone to take care of yourself. The more you stay alone you are going to find yourself in your bed most of your day. You mustn’t get lazy and break that habit. You won’t find anyone else to encourage you, you need to push yourself.
5. Learn to cook, if you cannot
If you are not into cooking, and can’t cook, learn it today. Don’t depend on restaurants or someone else for your lunches and dinners. Learn it. It’s not going to be very hard, just visiting youtube can do you a lot better. Follow those online recipes, they are enough for you to learn cooking. It is not impossible, if others can, why can’t you?
4. Practice DIYs
There are a lot of DIY (Do It Yourself) projects you can try to spend your day on. DIYs are refreshing, you can get creative and that’s going to help you develop. For example, if you search for ‘DIY lights for your home’ on google, you are going to find thousands of ideas. You are going to find easy and simple yet beautiful projects. You can use that light and decorate your apartment too.
3. Go for a pet
Having a pet is always beautiful. Be it a dog, a cat, or fishes in your aquarium. You are not going to feel bored. Your dog is going to play with you and engage you in other activities. You are going to learn to care and love. You need to feed them regularly, which can help you learn and appreciate the sense of responsibility which can help you in your personal life.
2. Gift yourself the ‘Me-Time’
The first condition of living alone is that you need to embrace yourself. Exploring yourself is important. If you find it boring, go out, go watch a movie, try different restaurants – call it a date. You don’t really need anyone else for going out. Prove them wrong who thinks that going out alone is boring. You can’t get bored of yourself. In fact, you shouldn’t. Enjoy that sense of freedom, you can do whatever you want, eat whatever you want, go wherever you want. You’d be amazed when you’ll be discovering hundreds of more sides of yourself. Not everyone can or does love themselves. You need to learn to love, sometimes. When it’s about you, do all those amazing things to you and make your everyday special.
1. Try new things
Trying new things, or learning a new hobby is another important thing you can add to your list. You would have enough time if you are living on your own. It can be anything, say painting, reading books, dancing, or playing the guitar. Engage yourself in these activities and you will feel the difference in a few months. It’s beautiful when you learn a new thing all by yourself and when you succeed. Even if you don’t find success, don’t give up, push yourself a bit further. You are going to get there.
