Once you’re done checking them out, pick one beach and plan a perfect getaway that you or your family will never forget. Read on, you can thank me later.

12. Shell Beach, Australia

The name says it all, now doesn’t it? Located in Western Australia, this beach is simply marvelous in its own unique way. All across its vast stretches, you will not find any sand, as the entire 68-miles long coastline is scattered with billions of tiny cockle shells, which wash up on its shores, year after year.

This mesmerizing beach is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, owing to the shells, of course, and also to the abundant marine life it supports. The surrounding waters are home to a variety of exotic species like dugongs, a variety of sponges, cockles, Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins and whale sharks.

11. Hidden Beach, Mexico

This one looks just so surreal as if fetched from our dreams! The Mexicans know it by the name of Playa del Amor, which translates to ‘love beach’ in English. And why not, with its perfect white sands and rippling, crystal-clear waters, all tucked safely under the turf of the Marieta Islands, it makes a perfect honeymoon destination for any couple hopelessly in love.

For those who are wondering, this out-of-the-world beach is believed to be a result of some repeated bombings that took place in this area in the early 1900s, when the Mexican government started using these islands as a military base to test their bombs and weapons.

By now you might be wondering: How to reach? Well, the beach is completely invisible from the outside. In order to reach its picturesque shore, you must cross a long water tunnel which links the beach to the Pacific Ocean, either by swimming or kayaking your way through.

10. Pink Sands Beach, Bahamas

Believe me, this photo is not Photoshopped! This is just another one of Mother Nature’s miracles. The entire shoreline of  Harbour Island’s Pink Sands Beach is just this way, filled to the brim with pretty, powdery pink sand that you just can’t miss. Combined with that are the slushing Bahamian waters and the luxurious beach resorts that surround it, which make this beach simply unforgettable.

8. Bowling Ball Beach, California

If you ever happen to visit California, be sure to check out this beach. You won’t regret it. The Bowling Ball beach is a hot tourist destination, owing to its almost-spherical blobs of rock and sandstone, all neatly lined up across the northern shoreline of the Schooner Gulch State Beach, just like the bowling balls we see in any bowling alley.  Though you can’t exactly surf here, with all those huge boulders lying around, you can go for some other fun beach activities like fishing, tide-pooling or even hiking!
